Glossary - Accessory fruit

Similar structure to the fruit but contrary to a "true fruit" which develops from the ovary, it develops from other parts of the flower (synonym: pseudocarp, spurious fruit or false fruit). The resulting fruit, e.g. the strawberry, thus contains, in addition to a mature ovary and seeds, a significant amount of other tissue.
