A lucky fall

We had only 50 minutes to find the cavity of a woodpecker that was hiding in our part of the forest. Forty-five minutes went by before I finally spotted a Downy Woodpecker! Since every second counts, I ran as fast as I could toward it, but straight away tripped over some debris on the ground, and found myself flat on my back. Ouch! However, from that undignified position I actually spotted another woodpecker, in the opposite direction, going into a cavity to feed its young. What a find! Without my fall, I’d never have seen the cavity. Sometimes things really do turn out for the best.
