When I was a student in the 1970’s, there wasn’t a greater marvel for me than the crabapple flowering in the Arboretum of the Jardin. Even today, it’s my favourite pilgrimage, like the one of many strollers delighted by the silk-like petals and by the flowery perfumes. Emblems of spring in Montreal, decorative crabapples, small fruit hybrids belonging to the Malus genus, also attract bees and birds. A Eden-like orchard in the city!
