Glossary - Photosynthesis

Process by which green plants capture and fix sunlight to manufacture their food and build stores of energy. Photosynthesis takes place in cells containing chlorophyll. It allows the plants to break down of carbon dioxide from the air (CO2) emissions and sequester carbon (C) in their tissues in the form of carbohydrates.
